Alchemy Wines – A Micro-Négociant Philosophy
At Alchemy Wines, we embrace the ethos of the micro-négociant — sourcing exceptional fruit from trusted vineyards we know intimately, then crafting small batches of expressive, site-driven wines with care and precision.
With over two decades of experience across Bordeaux, Oregon, and now Hawke’s Bay | Te Matau a Māui, we bring a deeply personal approach to every wine made. We don’t own vast vineyards — instead, we collaborate with growers who share our values and passion for quality. This allows us to remain agile, curious, and focused on what matters: creating wines that speak clearly of their origin.
Our fruit is sourced from vineyards in and around Hawke’s Bay, a landscape rich in beauty, diversity, and character. The soils, elevation, and climate variations of this special corner of Hawke’s Bay give us a vibrant palette to work with, allowing us to craft wines of depth, texture, and individuality.
As micro-négociants, we’re involved in every step — from vineyard selection to final bottling — each bottle of Alchemy wine is thoughtfully made, honestly expressive, and a little piece of the land we live on. This is winemaking, done our way — hands-on, heart-first, and always in pursuit of something meaningful.

Alchemy Wines makes its home—and its magic—in the heart of Hawke’s Bay, one of New Zealand’s most dynamic wine regions, shaped by sunshine, sea breezes, and ancient braided river soils. Known for its diverse subregions and vineyard sites, the area provides ideal conditions for crafting a wide range of expressive styles.
While Chardonnay remains at the core of Alchemy’s identity, our deep connection to Pinot Noir means this iconic variety is essential to our portfolio. We also celebrate boutique parcels of lesser-known varietals sourced from small vineyards often overlooked by larger producers. This diversity and character define Alchemy Wines and the unique terroir captured in every bottle.
