Founded in 2010, Alchemy Wines has its roots in the Dartmoor Valley, where the vineyard was carefully tended by Neal Cave. Neal’s dedication to the land and the vines produced exceptional fruit, not only for Alchemy but for a number of respected wineries across New Zealand.
In 2023, the Dartmoor vineyard was devastated by Cyclone Gabrielle. The loss was deeply felt—both personally for the Cave family and within the wider wine community.
In 2024, we were humbled to continue the story of Alchemy Wines, taking over from Neal with a shared commitment to the legacy he built. Having worked alongside him for several vintages as winemaker, we already felt deeply connected to the brand and what it stands for.
As we move into this new chapter, we carry forward that history—sourcing grapes from trusted growers, discovering new parcels of exceptional fruit, and continuing to craft wines that speak clearly of their place. While the vineyards may have changed, the principles that have guided Alchemy for the past 15 years remain at the heart of everything we do.
